Journey Through the Cosmos

Wind orchestra Auletes
6 April 2019 20:00
Blauwe Zaal, Auditorium, TU/e

On Saturday the 6th of April 2019 at 8pm, wind orchestra Auletes, conducted by Paul van Gils, will give a special concert together with famous astrophysics professor Vincent Icke. Auletes will perform music in the theme 'the universe', while Vincent Icke will provide insights in the current state of knowledge within this subject.

For years, the universe has been a big source of inspiration for composers. Pieces such as 'Mars' and 'Jupiter' from Gustav Holst and 'Mercury' from Jan van der Roost fit perfectly in the theme. Thomas Doss' 'Sidus', a beautiful piece about space travel, will fill in this evening even further.
The evening will result in a magnificent combination of music and science, which will take you on a journey through the cosmos.

The following works will be performed:

The Planets: Mars, the Bringer of WarGustav Holst
The Planets: Jupiter, the Bringer of JollityGustav Holst
MercuryJan van der Roost
