62nd Board of ESMG Quadrivium

We are Qantabile, the 62nd board of ESMG Quadrivium! This year, the board consists of David-Ioan Popescu as Chair, Prokop Hořejš as Secretary, Jan Pawlik as Treasurer, Joanna van den Broek as Commissioner Ensuite, Franciska Singha as Commissioner Auletes, and Farnoosh Alizadeh as Commissioner Piano Members. With six board members and responsibilities divided across the different parts of the association, we are excited to build further on the work of previous boards and make the most of the year ahead.

Our main aims this year are to focus on quality, visibility, participation, and long-term development within Quadrivium. We want to make Q more visible around TU/e, strengthen collaborations with other student and musical organizations, and create more opportunities for our members to get involved and develop musically. We also want to give renewed attention to ensembles, encourage more active participation within the association, and continue improving the musical quality of our concerts and projects. Most importantly, we hope to make this a year in which members from all parts of Quadrivium feel connected to the association and to each other.

As chair of ESMG Quadrivium, I am responsible for the day-to-day management of the association. By keeping the overview and occasionally directing my fellow board members, I work hard to achieve the goals we set for ourselves. This includes ensuring and regulating policies as well as upholding the aims that already exist. Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding our association!

As secretary, I am responsible for all kinds of administrative tasks. This means, among other things, that I take the minutes of our meetings, handle emails for the board, send the newsletters and keep the website and calendars up to date. I also keep all membership records and I am the point of contact for new potential members.

As treasurer, I am responsible for the finances of the association. I am in charge of payments and the accountancy of the association, as well as making the financial year report. The KCC (financial auditing committee) checks the accountancy and helps me when I have questions.

As commissioner Auletes, I am responsible for the symphony orchestra, Ensuite. I am responsible for organizing three fantastic projects performed by this amazing orchestra. I also make sure that the weekly rehearsals run smoothly and that everyone has a good time.

As commissioner piano members, I organize activities for the piano members together with the piano committee. These activities include masterclasses and piano evenings. Besides that I am also responsible for making sure the pianos are in tune as well as the maintenance of the pianos.

An Ode to the Seasons

On the 20th of November, symphony orchestra Ensuite will take you on a journey to show the intricate connection of music to nature, through “An Ode to the Seasons”. For years, composers have taken inspiration from the seasons to write incredibly moving pieces. Under guidance of conductor Gerrit Maas, Ensuite will perform an evening with beautiful music.

During the concert, we move through the seasons. First, Grieg celebrates the different aspects of autumn with In Autumn. Winter is then represented in both Tchaikovsky’s nutcracker ballet as well as the Snow Maiden Suite of Rimsky-Korsakov, who both capture the warmth of the season, as well as the more chilly side. The beginnings of spring are illustrated by Sibelius in his Spring Song and the joy of summer can be felt through Márquez’ Danzón no. 2.

This concert is one you do not want to miss out on. So be there on Friday the 20th of November at 20.15!
