Student symphony orchestra Ensuite of association ESMG Quadrivium is looking for a new enthusiastic musical leader as of December 1st, 2025.

Who are we?

Ensuite is a student orchestra and consists of about 40 young, enthusiastic members. Generally, the orchestra plays a classical repertoire but does not shy away from film music or more modern pieces. The members of Ensuite have varying levels of experience playing in an orchestra. Some musicians have been playing in larger ensembles for many years, while others acquire this experience with Ensuite for the first time. In addition to weekly rehearsals and accompanying concerts, the orchestra has rehearsal days and once a year a rehearsal weekend.  

Ensuite is part of the Eindhovens Studenten Muziek Gezelschap Quadrivium (ESMG Quadrivium), a large and versatile student music association located on the grounds of the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). In addition to the symphony orchestra, the association consists of the wind orchestra Auletes, the mixed choir Vokollage, various ensembles, and piano members. Mutual collaboration projects between the orchestras, ensembles and choir occur regularly.  

Job description

As conductor of Ensuite, you lead rehearsals every Wednesday evening, and you are responsible for the artistic leadership of the orchestra. Rehearsals take place every week, with the exception of vacation periods in accordance with the academic year, in a large rehearsal room in the building ‘Luna’ on the TU/e campus. All rehearsals are held in English, since Ensuite has many international members. Every year 2 to 3 diverse projects are performed in and around Eindhoven. To this end, the conductor works together with the organizing orchestra committee and the annually changing student board of ESMG Quadrivium.  

What do we ask of you?

You are driven to further develop the musicality of the orchestra. Furthermore, you are enthusiastic and eager to commit yourself to creating and performing a diverse range of projects with students. Ensuite is therefore looking for a conductor with the following characteristics and qualifications: 

• A bachelor's and/or master's degree in orchestral conducting. 
• Demonstrated conducting experience (experience with symphony orchestras is a plus, but not a requirement).
• Affinity for working with students and recent graduates. 
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with the orchestra committee and board within the association.
• High level of proficiency of the English language.
• Ability to create a motivating, socially safe and enjoyable atmosphere during rehearsals.
• An active role in preparing repertoire.
• Responsibility in safeguarding artistic quality. This includes the ability to assess the level of the orchestra and make conscious choices based on this assessment, in order to ensure optimal musical growth and a good final result.
• Availability from December 1, 2025 on Wednesday evenings from 19:30 to 22:15.

As a student orchestra, we offer a starting salary of 75% based on the guidelines of the BvOI (in accordance with other student orchestras and choirs in the Netherlands), depending on your education.
